The famous Florence Mine near Egremont in Cumbria is known for its Specularite Quartz specimens. Specularite is the “specular” or “mirror-like” variety of Hematite. It is all the more astonishing that in this case it is a Dolomite Specularite specimen, which consists of a very light flesh-colored to beige, saddle-shaped curved Dolomite rhombohedrons, perched very contrasting on sparkling Hematite. A super specimen.
