Description
There is one deposit in New Mexico that is famous for purple Fluorite octahedrons: the Judith Lynn Claim in Pine Canyon in Grant County. Most specimens from this locality have been treated with hydrofluoric acid to remove a tough quartz coating and than exposed to the sun to improve the color. And you can see what comes of this procedure. Very good purple Fluorite octahedrons to 1.6 cm on matrix. Sharp, silky luster and an excellent translucency. A colorful piece.
