Description
Imagine digging a road cut and finding specimens such as this one. This is exactly what happened in 2001 when a new road was built that connected Bad Brambach with the Czech town of Cheb. Very attractive Smoky Quartz specimens on granitic matrix just like this one were recovered. Sharp crystals to 5 cm tall, transparent, gemmy with a vitreous luster. There are a few dings on the crystals that do not distract from the aesthetic appeal of the entire specimen. Since the conclusion of the construction works the chances for finds are extremely extremely low and the pieces that were on the market twenty-something years ago have disappeared in collections.
