Description

Records of the Himmelsfürst Mine in the Freiberg district date back to 1572, when a rich silver vein was discovered, which was mined until 1913. The mine was the most productive silver mine in Saxony, especially in its heydays between 1710 to 1896, which contributed to Axony´s rise in European politics and influence. And it produced spectacular silver specimens. This specimen is a very nice example of the wire silver specimens that came from this mine. Fine strands of individual wires form a compact, bent, ropey structure. The piece has a very attractive metallic luster with typical patina. This specimen is a classic example from the last century from one of Saxony´s most famous mines.
