Description
The Remedios Mine is one of the several active mines in the Taxco mining complex where Lead, Zinc, Silver and Gold are recovered. The German collector Dr. Schönfelder visited the mine in the 1990s and purchased the specimen on site. That´s when you wait at the mine entrance for miners leaving at the end of their shift. And he got a good specimen. Lead gray and well crystallized, sharp Galena crystals with a variety of cubic modifications are associated with clusters of spherical-radial acicular Sphalerite crystals. Sphalerite on this specimen has been identified by X-Ray Diffraction. A pretty unusual specimen not without appeal!
