Description
Rio Marina is a mining town on the northeast coast of the Italian island of Elba. It is home to iron mines that have been exploited since Etruscan times ca. 700 B.C. Besides its well-known Pyrite specimens, this locality has produced exceptional Hematite specimens just like this one. Thin blades of Hematite crystals with an incredible metallic, characteristic for this locality make up this very aesthetic specimen. This is just another classic specimen from a historically important locality.
