Description
Here we have a typical cluster of intergrown Quartz crystals from Bavarian locale Johanneszeche of Göpfersgrün near Wunsiedel. The Quartzes are well formed, sharp edged and highly lustrous. No significant imperfections worth to report. The Johanneszeche is a Steatite Mine, well known for Steatite pseudomorphs after Quartz, Calcite and others. All of these specimens, incl. these Quartz pieces seem to have been collected in the now long abandoned opencast workings south of the railway line. No finds are reported from the new mine workings that are located a little further north. (mindat)
