Description
A fine and meanwhile old-time specimen of flesh-coloured, tabular Baryte from Paleokamariza near the village of Plaka of the Lavrion area in Greece. The crystals here are sharp edged, highly lustrous and nicely accented by creamy botryoidal Aragonite. I vividly remember my first visit in the Lavrion area in 1990. Underground in the Exi Mine (Mine number 6) we met old Loukas Kostis who promptly invited us to his house with the intension to sell us some rocks. He had boxes and boxes of this specific Baryte material, and he called us Villia as locality ( wrong as it turned out later). This was the first and the last time I saw such a big quantity of this stuff. In the meantime this kind of material completely disappeared from the scene and only from time to time a single specimen pops up in an old collection.
