Description
This is an outstanding and typical matrix specimen of the very rare and beautiful lead tungstate Stolzite from the Proprietary Mine of Broken Hill in Australia. Superbly emplaced on a matrix of massive manganese oxide are discrete, gemmy, doubly-terminated crystals of lustrous and transparent Stolzite to 2 mm across. The colour and textural contrasts are awe-inspiring for this old specimen - which probably predates WW1. You just never see them on the market!
