Description
Here we have a delightful miniature sized specimen with an excellent cluster of intergrown, jet-black Ferberite (Wolframite) crystals contrastful set on a mix of Calcite and Siderite rhombs. It is not so long ago, we used to refer to Ferberite as Wolframite, but those simpler days are now gone. In this specific case we have the iron-bearing end member of the Wolframite series. In every case a very attractive and rare locality piece, still rare and desired in the heyday in the 1970s and almost disappeared from the mineral market nowadays.
