Description
Beautiful and lustrous two-tone Andradite garnet crystals to over 1 cm crown a pedestal of fibrous, olive coloured Hedenbergite from Serifos, Greece. The Andradite here features a dark brown rim and a lighter brown center. Choice material. Now, Quartz included with Hedenbergite is common and in fact famous from this location. Freestanding Hedenbergite crystals are much more uncommon, and to have this remarkable association of bright garnets perched atop them, even more so by an order of magnitude. A very typically, interesting, and important locality specimen but beyond that, its just a good combo rock in any case, as you can tell, I like the darned thing.
