Description
Here we have the most desired type of Baryte from the Maramureș region of Romania,- the red ones, coloured by inclusions of Realgar. The Baryte crystals are well developed, sharp and gemmy. This is a fine old piece probably came out in the 1910s or 1920s. It is certainly one of the better of the few specimens that I have seen of the habit and over the years, despite just a mini. The red or ocher colour is due to included elongated Realgar crystals, which is not uncommon from this locality per se. It is very rare included in Baryte, however. This is in any case an attractive and rare oldtimer in very good condition,- and comes with an antique label.
