Description
A fine and old-time specimen of Cordierite in GEM QUALITY. It has superbly transparent violet parts and comes with a very old label. The Silberberg Mine at Bodenmais was a polymetamorphic iron sulphide deposit, hosted in cordierite-garnet gneiss that is disseminated by quartz veins. First documented mining took place in 1436 and continued intermittently until 1962. It was subsequently converted into a tourist mine. (mindat)
