Description
What a nice and SUPERAESTHETIC combination piece of exceedingly well formed amber-yellow Gysum crystals and cubed, glassy and colourless Halite. This specimen is superb in contrast, integrity and aesthetics. Definitely not the largest one but among the most beautiful ones I have seen from this relatively recent find a few years ago. This well known site was a Potash Mine, started in 1899, closed in 1990 and reopened in 1998 as an undergrond waste storage and, again, as a potash mine but with solution mining and no underground workings. Between 1954 and 1990 known as Karl Liebknecht Potash Works. The recent finds of these excellent Gypsum crystals in association with Halite cubes have been made in the "Kraja" district of the mine.
