Description
Here we have a superb specimen of scalenohedral crystals of Smithsonite from the Berg Aukas Mine of Grootfontein, Namibia, well known for its great Descloizite pieces. This is very desirable material,- these are rare nowadays though often you see them (particularly on the web) mislabeled as Tsumeb Smithsonites which they decidedly are not. These are distinguished by a silky luster, pale olive-brown colour, sharp form, and translucency which in person set them off in their own league, especially when nicely formed and isolated as this one is.
