Description

In general, Grossular from Mali is not necessarily the type of mineral specimens that I get particularly excited about. However, in this case, this exquisite matrix specimen is different. Up to 2.7 cm measuring, extremely well defined, textbook Grossular crystals, dark brown with a wonderful adamantine luster and a partially stepped crystal faces are perched on matrix. The crystals are mostly perfect and sit on slightly altered matrix of beige Feldspar crystals and are accompanied by olive green glassy Epidote crystals. You´ve probably seen Mali Garnet before, but this piece is definitely top quality: very typical for the locality and highly aesthetic.
