Description

Bismuthinite is a Bismuth sulfide that is not particularly common and when it is not just a lump of massive ore but well crystallized, it is something special. And this specimen from the Bolivian Tazna Mine is just that: A jumble of steel-gray, acicular crystal clusters up to almost 2.5 cm long. They have an interesting longitudinal striation and display a strong metallic luster. Associated minerals are shiny golden colored Pyrite crystals and some opaque milky, prismatic Quartz crystals. This is a high quality specimen in very good condition from an older find from the late 1990s.
