Description

Wolf-Rhodos are definitely a "holy grail member" of German mineral collectors,- and this is a really great piece. A rich specimen, loaded with numerous sharp Rhodochrosite dogtooth crystals, characteristic of the style from this important and very old locality. The single, slightly tapered crystals are translucent and quite pretty. Most of the burnt-orange to raspberry-red crystals are intact and pristine. This is rare because of the isolation of the crystals themselves and also the size of the whole specimen. Most old Wolf Mine Rhodos are simply small pieces, chopped up and sold as locality bits over the last 100 years. But this is a great small cabinet sized piece with SUPERB OVERALL AESTHETICS !!!
