Description
No specific locality, just Zacatecas, Mexico is recorded on an original Dr. Wilke label. Here we have a mix of Pyrite and Greigite as intergrown glistenig crystals on matrix. Greigite is a rare ironsulfide and member of the Linnaeite group. It is named in honor of Joseph Wilson Greig (1895, Ontario, Canada - 22 October 1977, Lewistown, Pennsylvania, USA), a mineralogist and physical chemist at at the Geophysical Laboratory of the Carnegie Institution, Washington, D.C., USA and later at Pennsylvania State University, State College, Pennsylvania, USA. Such material is exceeding hard to come by nowadays and actually such large pieces are chopped up into crumbs, to make more profit. But this is not our style......
