Description
This is a typical Rhodochrosite specimen, the likes of which were found at the South African Wessels Mine in the 1990s. Bright pink Rhodochrosite scalenohedrons up to approximately 1 cm with velvety crystal faces and an adamantine luster of sparkling crystals. The associate mineral species is brownish Gageite, a rare manganese silicate. The cleft where these specimens were found was relatively small, so only few specimens were recovered.
