Description
An ore specimen with numerous sharp octahedral Siegenite crystals, which are silver-white with a strong metallic luster. The Cobalt-Nickel sulfide is embedded in a matrix of the uncommon Cobalt sulfide Linnaeite, which is less well crystalllized. This rich and highly representative piece is from the historic La Motte Mine of Madison County, Missouri in the old Missouri Lead Belt of southeastern Missouri, the oldest lead mine west of the Mississippi River, discovered in 1714 and closed in 1959.
