How I love single crystals! A 3.6 cm tall textbook Orthoclase crystal from the pegmatites of the granite of the Fichtelgebirge a mountain range in Bavaria’s north. Up to 20 quarries, however, most of them now abandoned worked the granite. The Orthoclase has a cream-white color, sharp edges and a porcelain luster. The crystal faces are covered with light olive colored Mica, which is of the Gilbertite variety.
