Description
A single Martite crystal perched on yellowish-green Lizardite and Talc matrix. Martite and Lizardite are not the most common names and need some explanation: Martite is a Hematite pseudomorph after Magnetite, and when you look closely, you can see the isometric symmetry of (trigonal) Hematite. And the matrix is Serpentine, which was called Lizardite because of its oily resinous luster way back when in an allusion to the green shimmer of lizard skin, and white Talc with a satin luster. Classic and typical for the Dypingdal Serpentine-Magnesite deposit of Norway.
