Description
A superb miniature-sized specimen of Orpiment from the Copper-Lead-Zinc-Silver-Gold mine of Quiruvilca in the Peruvian Andes, which is know for its excellent specimens of the species. However, the Peruvian pieces have been overshadowed by the ones found in Nevada a few years ago. But nevertheless, they are still highly desirable specimens, especially when they are this good! Wonderfully terminated crystals with fine orange color and a vitreous luster. There are little bruises here and there, but this is true of just about ALL Peruvian Orpiment. Don’t forget, Orpiment has a low Mohs hardness of 1½ - 2.
