Description
This is a specimen of the relatively rare species Clinochlore, despite the fact that it is one of the most common members of the Chlorite group. This 5.9 cm measuring specimen is grey-green in color with almost six-sided leafy aggregates. It has a mica-like silky luster, is opaque to translucent (on the thinner sections). A rare piece from Snarum, a small community west northwest of the Norwegian capitol of Oslo. Snarum is famous for several occurrences of Magnesite and Serpentine, the former species being mined for the production of fireproof tiles since 1903.
