Description
A 3.7 cm tall, V-shaped crystal group of Orthoclase crystals with typical Baveno habit on a tiny bit of matrix of alpine matrix: Quartz, Mica, and Epidote. The striking euhedral Orthocalse crystals are sharp with textbook (AKA perfect) terminations. The color is off white with faint pink hues and a porcelain luster. Some prism faces are dusted with olive green elongated Epidote crystals with a vitreous luster. This specimen strikes the optimal balance of beauty and aesthetics. Unfortunately, the specimen comes without more specific locality information, but it is from one of the granite quarries in the hills above the town of Baveno on the shores of the Lombardy side of Lago Maggiore.
