Description
An excellent and extremely rich specimen, a piece of an ore vein from the Phosphate pegmatite deposit Hagendorf Süd (Hagendorf South). Two phosphate minerals, Hureaulite and Rockbridgeite on one specimen. Hureaulite forms radial, light flesh colored glassy aggregates while Rockbridgeite also forms radial crystal clusters, but they are dark olive to black in color. The classic Phosphate pegmatite deposit Hagendorf in Bavaria’s Upper Palatinate is type locality for 32 valid minerals, and lists a total of 224 valid mineral species. Mining started in 1894 and lasted for 90 years until its closure in 1984. It is now flooded and inaccessible for collecting.
