Description
There is probably no mineral species that screams Zillertal more than dark red-brown Almandine Garnets in a mica schist matrix, which is as typical for the Austrian Central Alps as the Garnet itself. Well defined, sharp dodecahedral crystals are translucent to opaque. The minor imperfections do not really detract. Just think of what this specimen went through in its geologic metamorphic history.
