Description
A Wavellite specimen with an unusually bright color. Canary-yellow sprays of acicular crystals on matrix creating a stark contrast. The pretty rare specimen is from the former open-cast Uranium mine Lichtenberg. The quarry measured one by two kilometers and a depth of 230 meters, and was operated from 1962 until 1976. After the German reunification, the pit was refilled with material from the old dumps and reclaimed in 1990.
