Description
A fine individual Quartz crystal perched in/on matrix. The compact crystal is transparent with a vitreous luster. It is gemmy and perfect. The matrix is the typical tenacious Dolomite, which is extremely hard to crack. This is a great and typical Herkimer matrix specimen. That piece answers the question why the crystal clear and lustrous Quartz crystals from Middlefield in Herkimer County are called “Herkimer Diamonds”.
