Description
A specimen with the fairly rare Lead-Calcium-Zinc silicat Esperite associated with Willemite and grains of steel-gray Franklinite. Esperite is massive off-white material in Franklin ore. It is difficult to distinguish from Willemite, which also can be off-white as is the case in this specimen. However, here comes the fluorescence to the rescue. While Willemite fluoresces bright green under ultraviolet light, Esperite fluoresces more yellow, although the yellow fluorescence is hard to catch on a photo. A good specimen with a rare species from the type locality, the Franklin Mine in Sussex County, New Jersey.
