Description
Wonderful cubes of honey-yellow Fluorite crystals from the Hilton Mine east of Scordale in Cumbria in the UK. The mine was opened in 1824 and finally abandoned in 1963 when they ran out of ore. The extremely sharp Fluorite crystals have a very nice luster, are partly cuboid and the display side is in pristine condition. Since the underground environment is extremely dangerous due to the risk of collapse, and the area surrounding the mine is now within a military firing range, good specimens like this are now history.
