Description

The rare habit of spear-shaped scalenohedral Hematite crystals has been reported from the Wessels Mine in the Kalahari Manganese Fields, where it occurs occasionally. However, this specimen is from the N´Chwaning II Mine, and was recovered from a pocket that has been opened in the 1990s. The Hematite crystals on this specimen are sharp with a striking metallic luster. Hard to get these days. The specimen is from the collection of Tsumeb spcialist Dr. Gerd Tremmel (1940–2020), namesake of the arsenate species Gerdtremmelite.
