Description
The Tsumeb Mine in Namibia closed for good in 1996 and is pretty much flooded. That implies that good Tsumeb specimens are becoming rare. Just like this light apple-green Smithsonite that covers a layer of Calcite/Dolomite over matrix. The Smithsonite crystals are sharp, lustrous and gemmy . Copper-bearing Smithsonite is much rarer and moe sought after than the pink Cobalt-bearing Smithsonite. This specimen is a great addition to any collection; colorful, high-contrast and with just very few imperfections.
