Now here you can get your hands on a rarity: Braunite, a manganese silicate, first described by Haidinger in 1828, this miniature is from the braunite co-type locality Oehrenstein, a long abandoned manganese mine south of Ilmenau, which is well-known for its manganite specimens. This unique specimen is a mass of mm-sized, shiny, black tetragonal crystals. A classic species from a classic German locality.
