Description
Here we have a fine Quartz-Gwindel-on-matrix specimen from famed Swiss locale Val Giuv of Tujetsch in Surselva area, Grisons. A Gwindel, or twisted Quartz, is one of the great Swiss classics and matrix pieces are very rare, because most of the Gwindels fall off the matrix due to tectonic stress. Despite this specimen is not perfect, it is every case a fine piece with glassy and gemmy, slightly Chlorite-covered Quartz crystals. They are sharp edged of course, highly lustrous and almost excellent terminated. A good specimen,- and this ones (Gwindels) are seldom seen for sale, especially in an auction. Ex Dr. Schönfelder collection.
