Description
Here we have a fine and colourful Rhodochrosite specimen with a wonderful hemisphere on matrix. Botryoidal Rhodochrosite is rare enough, and only occurs in large form from a few locations such as Japan and rarely Kazakhstan. We do not see many minerals from Kazakhstan, although surely they exist and the mineral collecting economy (or rather, niche side-economy) has not percolated into the mining regions and people as yet. This is literally one of the few "Kazakhstan classics" we can think of, but they tend to be old and we do not see many good ones for sale. And this is a very aesthetic, contrastful specimen with an almost perfect display face and a broken off backside. This circumstance shows wonderful the lucency and banded structure of the Rhodo. SUPERB.
