Description
Here we have a superb cluster of well formed and sharp Scheelite from Thompson Mine of Darwin in California. The Darwin lead-silver-zinc district occurs in the Darwin Hills of west central Inyo County, California. The ore bodies are related to intrusives, and the district is particularly well-known for its Scheelite crystals, which are also the primary tungsten ore. This superb cluster of intergrown Scheelite crystals is sharp, has almost a metallic/satin luster, and a grayish-tan colour. The crystals are contacted here and there what definitely doesn´t detract from the overall aesthetics and quality. This specimen is classic for the Thompson Mine. Some people have said they are actually replacements of Stolzite, though I am not sure about that. In any case, this is an old classic, extremely rarely seen on the market and is in fine condition.
