Description
Here we have a fine and typical Elba-Pyrite-on-Hematite specimen. It is richly scattered with several brassy pyritohedrons. This specimen is from classic 1960s finds here, known as one of the most stylish pockets produced by the famous iron mines of this island. It features discrete and relatively isolated crystals of pyrite to 1 cm in diameter, well spread out on sparkling, specular Hematite matrix. The contrast is striking, in person and there is very minor edge wear as well. Usually the Pyrites are intergrown and specimens like this might be more "clunky" than elegant.
