Description
Here we have a wonderful and very old-time Fluorite specimen with dark lilac cuboctahedral crystals. They are sharp edged and highly lustrous with fine aesthetics and only very minor edge wear at the major crystal. Honestly,- when did you see the last time a good piece as this one from this uncommon Namibian locality??? Pforte has been a train station of the first train line between Swakopmund and Windhoek, built in German South-West Africa (now Namibia), from 1898 until 1902. The locality is known for well-crystallized dark violet to nearly black Fluorite octahedrons and fine groups of crystals up to 4 cm in size. The Fluorites might have been found during the construction of the railway tracks and station, due to extensive earth and rocks movements in a difficult topographic environment. This is exceedingly RARE AND DESIRED material and practically not offered for sale on the mineral market.
