Description
Here we see a single crystal of so-called Rosafluorite (pink Fluorite) from the Zinggenstock of Bern Canton in Switzerland with octahedral basic shape, as a well balanced specimen. I admit that the colour is not killer, but it is distinctive rose coloured on the one half of the crystal, the other half is more dark, up to the anthracite colour. The surface consists of numerous small octahedrons with one very tiny surface wear. I had the specimen under the microscope and I did not see more imperfection. Just a little rest of cleft-clay or similar in the gussets. So a distinct cleaning could improve the specimen a bit. Pink Fluorites from the Swiss alps have been treasured classics for over a century or so and when I walked through the Swiss mineral shows and looked for pink Fluorites, I often see crazy numbers the strahlers asked for crumbs or fragments. But this is a good, 2,5 cm measuring octahedron, almost undamaged and consequently a great oportunity.
