Description
A wide opened vug is richly lined with sharp and well defined Braunite crystals. They are highly lustrous and almost excellent terminated, and they are from the type locality, Öhrenstock near Ilmenau of Thuringia, Germany. Highly desired classic and rare, old-time material, hard to come by nowadays. Braunite is named after Wilhelm von Braun (* 1. October 1790 in Thal (Ruhla); † 6. February 1872 in Gotha), official and minister in Gotha, Germany, supporter of geology and mineralogy. He supplied the original material for the description of Braunite. (mindat)
