Description
Here we have a single crystal of rare Struvite from the TYPE LOCALITY, the St. Nikolai Church in Hamburg. During the foundation of this church in 1846 they found numerous loose crystals embedded in bog soil and they were analysed by Hamburg chemist Georg Ludwig Ulex (1811-1883). Struvite is named after Heinrich Christoph Gottfried Struve (10 January 1772, Regensburg, Germany - 9 January 1851, Hamburg, Germany) of the Russian diplomatic service, Consul at Hamburg (Germany). He was a co-founder of a natural science museum in Hamburg.
