Description
Here we have a superbly defined and pastel smoky-brown coloured specimen of Fadenquartz from the well known alpine Swiss locale Val d´Illiez of Monthey in Valais Canton. Faden Quartzes from Pakistan are now fairly well distributed due to a find a few years back, but the Swiss ones are very hard to get your hands on. Not to be confused with Gwindels, though somewhat similar in form, these strange compound crystals are distinguished by the fuzzy "faden line" that runs through the center of the crystals, with the crystals growing out from this point in either direction to terminate in a row along either side. This one is undamaged and complete all around. A distinct cleaning would improve the piece a lot.
