Description

The Spanish Llamas Quarry, a privately owned quarry yielded some of the best Fluorite in the Berbes-Caravia mining district when it was in operation in the 70s. Later finds which came on the market in 2010 where from an accidental discovery when a forest road near the quarry was built. To avoid being invaded by collectors, the precise locality was kept secret and these specimens where sold as Llamas Quarry. Let´s go back to the specimen with wonderful light purple cube-shaped and partly cuboid crystals of captivating transparency and beauty. They are perched on a slightly weathered brownish matrix. The nicely beveled edges and the high luster are typical for the locality. The main crystal here measures 1.4 cm on edge and is absolutely perfect, very few of the smaller ones have some imperfections. A very aesthetic piece, nice and colorful!
