Description

An impressive and extremely aesthetic Galena specimen from Siegerland district. It is from the well-known Pfannenberger Einigkeit Mine near Salchendorf south of the city of Siegen. The well-defined, lead-gray Galena crystals with metallic luster are up to 6 cm (!) in diameter. On some of the crystal faces textures of faint hopper growth can be seen. This is a classic German specimen mined in the post-war years of World War II. The mine was the last one in the region to be closed in 1962.
