Description
Look at this almost 9 centimeters tall Galena specimen from the Bulgarian Krushev Dol Mine. A cluster of lead-gray, slightly distorted Galena crystals up to 1.5 cm. The crystal faces are lustrous but have been matted by natural etching; the crystal edges have been dulled by the same process. The habit is reminiscent of epitaxial growth. Smaller Sphalerite crystals are nestled in the spaces between the Galena crystals. A really aesthetic piece, and I wonder if I am the only one who sees a resemblance of the specimen with a pine cone?
