Description
Typical and extremely rare Galena on matrix specimen from the Belgian Erlenbach Mine near the hamlet Moresnet, west of the village of Kelmis. The mine worked a Lead-Zinc deposit and was in operation during the Second World War from 1940 to 1945. It only produced a few really good specimens, and this unusual piece is undoubtedly one of them. Somewhat indistinct (due to natural etching?) but still well crystallized Galena octahedrons up to 1.3 cm on edge are perched on matrix. I think that this is a very good opportunity to add a top quality Belgian classic to your collection.
