Description
This is one superb Calcite specimen from Daye County in the Chinese Hubei province. The mines of the region are famous for a variety of Calcite specimens with a range of colors and crystal forms. Such as this specimen with typically light brick-red crystals, the largest of which measures 4.2 cm. The crystals, perched on a matrix of Calcite, are twinned and doubly terminated, with the bigger crystals being stubby compact, and the smaller ones more scalenohedral. They all have a beautiful silky luster in common. This well balanced 360° specimen, is pristine and exceedingly aesthetic; this could be a steal!
