Description
This is a specimen that is richly covered with golden-brown Goethite crystal clusters with a velvety luster created by carpets of microscopic acicular crystals forming crusts or balls . This is the reason for the German term “Samtblende” (velvet is “Samt” in German), the fuzzy variety of Goethite with a velvety luster. The clusters are on/in translucent Calcite rhombohedrons. The specimen comes with an old label of the collection Loorz, Bockswiese.
